The Gibson ES-137 Classic is a fabulous archtopped jazz style guitar equpped with dual humbuckers and a stylish Florentine cut-away at the right hand shoulder, this instrument oozes class and although it’s not cheap you are getting one hell of a guitar for your hard earned beer tokens … The body has been expertly crafted by the Gibson luthiers from Curly Maple wood with symetrical “f” type sound holes and the delicate, attractive grain of the wood is faintly visible through the immaculately applied Bluesburst nirtocellulose finish. In order to combat feedback and enhance sustain Gibson have fitted a Mahogany centre-block to this semi-solid model instead of the usual Maple block.The neck, like the body is also Maple and hosts a 22 fret Rosewood fretboard with trapezoidal pearloid inlays as fret orientation markers, and with a letter “C” at the 12th fret to denote the instruments “Classic” status. At the headstock you’ll find Grover keystone machine heads whilst the humbucker pick-ups are configured with a 490R at the bridge position and a 498T at the neck end. The humbuckers are managed via two tone and volume controls whilst pick-up selection is via a shoulder mounted 3-way toggle switch. The body and neck are bound at the edges and the bridge configuration uses a period correct tune-o-matic bridge complete with a stop bar tailpiece. All hardware is gold plated and …
